i am suffering from megaloblastic anemia with pancytopenia and taking vit b12 and iron supplements as advised by doctor i am 14 yrs old female with weight 48 kg hb level 6.5 my feet and hands pain a lot i am a vegetarian so plz advise foods rich in b12 and can this be fatal?
Hello.Welcome.VIT B12 is found in meat and dairy products, but not in plants.Liver, kidney, sea fish, egg yolk, meat, cheese are the main VIT b12 containing constituents of diet. The only vegetable source is legumes(pulses).VIT b12 is intricately linked with FOLIC acidmetabolism and it is always wise to add FOLIC acid and an iron preparation.Good luck.
Hi,
thanks for query,
in this type of anaemia absorption of B12 does not take place or deficiency of food contains less B12.
You can go for injectable B12 initially and afterwards orally.
take food containing more B12,like green fresh vegetables, fresh fruits, unripe cereals or Fangavela cereals.
Ok and bye.
