my husband get severe sunburns on his nose very easy. he usually uses Calendula gel but we do not have any at this time. I have a number of different creams etc and I was wondering if certain ones will be as effective in the meantime Eurax Crotamiton cream; Fucidin H cream Leo; Bactroban; Betaderm .1%;ratio-Ectosone Regular .1%; Nystatin with Hydrocortisone .5%; Cetamide; and Topicort
Acute sunburn can be very painful and discomforting
Ideally acute sunburn should be managed with a short course of an oral steroids. Oral steroids are rapidly acting and immediately bring down the swelling and discomfort.
In addition to that he could use topical moderately potent topical steroid, twice daily for a week. Topicort cream would be fine
An OTC pain killer/anti-inflammatory e.g ibuprofen or aspirin can be taken twice or thrice daily to relieve the pain and discomfort.
Always use a broad spectrum sunscreen, throughout the day.
