Which Day Of The Menstrual Cycle Is Right Time To Do The Pregnancy Test?

hI!i have an irregular period. sometimes 2-3 months it will not come. my last period was on december 08, 2010. so i am confident that i am not pregnant because i knowmy situation and besides my husband and i are using natural birth control. Then last january 29, 2011 i went to doctors and she gave a medicine, and she told me make sure you i am not pregnant before i drink that medicine. so i did the PT and its NEGATIVE. then on second week of february i feel something strange, i feel always sleepy, very sensitive smell, dizzy etc. so i decided to do the PT again and its POSITIVE...now my question is what will be my possible due date? I went to two OB the first one told me that my due date is on October 23, 2011 and the other one said that my due date is on October 8 2010. so which is which? i follow the 2nd one, regularly i had my check up with the 2nd doctor. but the strange feeling was that my baby during my 1st week for my 4th month, my baby is moving too much...so i had a doubt that maybe he is not only 2nd week of 5th month now. he might be 6 months already.. but how come that when i did the the test on jan 29, 2011 its negative then after 17 days it became positive...please advise..thank you in advance

The urine pregnancy test is done to find out qualitatively raised levels of hCG, a hormone which is produced by the early placental tissue to support the pregnancy. You cannot rely upon these tests for determining the gestational age. Raised levels of this hormone indicates the presence of early placenta (chorionic tissue) and thus the pregnancy.

If there is any doubt about the period of pregnancy, foetal growth and the gestational age of the pregnancy, the best option for you is ultrasonography. By the different measurements of the foetal bones gestational age of the foetus can be fairly accurately predicted by ultrasonography, though few weeks error is expected.

Hence I would advise you to get ultrasonography done to assess the foetal age and thus reach to the approximate due date of delivery.
