Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hello, my mother had an abominal reconstruction surgery 2 years ago. It was to treat a large incisional hernia. A few months ago a doctor diagnosed her with a large seroma. So large that she had a 30 pound weight difference after it was drained. Since the first draining she has had drain tubes inserted and continues to drain at the rate of 1000 mls every 3 days. This has been going on for 3 months now with no improvement noted. At what point do I seem out a different doctor for help? It seems this is getting her no where.
hi..here seroma is complicatin of previous abdominal surgery.. its fluid collection mainly at the incision area. in many cases it will be managed by simple drain by few days.. but here draining is since 3 months.. my advise to consult your doctor who had done abdominal surgery will remove it by operation. any general surgeon can perform it.. no specialisation required.
