Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Which Medical Specialist Will Treat Numbness In Feet, Toe Joints And Calves?
I don t know what type of specialist to see. My feet, toe joints, calves and knees (acls replaced years ago) my arms, elbows, wrists and hands and fingers constantly are numb. I can barely walk on my feet they hurt so much and my one foot is always swollen and doesn t bend as much as my right foot. Advise would help.
Since you have numbness and in all four limbs, most likely you are suffering from some neuropathy. The cause for the same can be as simple as Vitamin Deficiency to a auto-immune disease. However, one foot swelling raises suspicion of something else in play. I would suggest instead of going to a specialist right away, get yourself assessed by a General Physician first who can screen you, do basic tests and then do appropriate referral.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Kalpajit Banik, Emergency Medicine Specialist
