Which Medication Can Be Taken With Methotrexate For Cold And Congestion?
I am taking low doses of methotrexate, 15mg every Friday and 15mg every Tuesday for autoimmune disease (pemphigus vulgaris-oral). I ve developed a cold and don t feel well, mostly congestion. What can I safely take that will not reduce the effects of the methotrexate?
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have developed symptoms of cold and congestion which seems to be due to upper respiratory tract infection known as common cold which is a viral infection. Need not to worry. Avoid intake of cold beverages along with hot, spicy and sharp food. I would suggest you to consult general physician for proper examination and diagnosis. Doctor may order certain test like blood test , viral culture test and throat swab test. Doctor may prescribe X-ray chest. Doctor may prescribe anti viral drug ( acyclovir ) , decongestant and anti inflammatory. You can continue with original medication along with mild decongestant and do warm saline gargles daily.
Hope your concern has been resolved.
Get Well Soon.
Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
