Which Procedure Is Done For Heart Failure?

Is is suggested that my father's elevated bilirubin may be caused by right heart failure. His doctor wants to do a venous catheterization before prescribing a medication. What is the name of this test and are there any major side effects? This man is 80 years old and has had 3 CABG. Thanks, Fern

Hello! Thank you for asking on HCM! Probably his doctor wants to measure CVP (central venous pressure), to be sure about elevated values. generally there is no any serious side effects to refer. An objective information about systemic venous congestion can be easily drawn by cardiac ultrasound. Greetings! Dr. Iliri
