Whistling Sound In Ears At Certain Frequencies. History Of Change In Pressure Due To Diving. Opinion?

Hi. Today I went free diving to depths of about 15-20 feet. The pressure change seems to have done something to my left ear. Whenever I talk or hear anything through my left ear, there is a whistling sound that accompanies the sound. My ear does not hurt, and I can in fact hear out of my left ear. It seems to be a stronger whistling sound at certain frequencies. What could this be?

Hello

Welcome in H.C.M.

I have gone through your query regarding whistling sound inyour left ear and difficulty in hearing due to diving.

Considering all aspect of your symptoms it is evident that you have Eustachian tube dysfunction which is getting blocked by change in atmospheric pressure by diving and thus your middle ear is having negative pressure and is creating this problem.

You are advice for-

(a) Steam inhalation.

(b) Antihistaminic & decongestant.

(c) Walsalva exercise.

(d) Steriod with concent of your treating doctor.

I hope above will help you.

Regards.
