White, Itchy Pimple Like Bumps On Penis Foreskin, Spreading To Rectum. Treatment Options?

Hi my son has white itchy pimpel like bumps on the forskin of his penis moving down by his leg towards his rectum . there are not very many and it s accompanied with a little bit of red irritated skin. it s been bothering him for about a month and a half now. I don t think it hurts, just itchy. Do you know what this could be?

Dear Concerned.,

Thanks for writing to us.

From the history, I can think of four different conditions which might be causing the above.,

1) Scabies;-Caused by Sarcopetes Scabei ,it is very infectious. Lindane Lotion/Crotamiton Lotion/ are very effective. Demonstration of the causative agent under lens is diagnostic.

2) Tinea Cruris;-Highly itchy ring lesions on skin. Miconozole Nitrate with fluncinolone in Gel base/ Terbinafin Gel are effective remedies. Woods UV Lamp showing greenish flourescence will be diagnostic.

3)Pediculosis;- Pthiris Pubis- finding and demonstarting pubic lice by the MD will be diagnostic. The treatment involves application of Pyrethrin containing shampoo/soap to the affected area.

4)Pyoderma/Impetigo-Staphylococcal infected lesions. Antibiotic Creams/oral antibiotics and disinfectant soaps will be helpful.There will be fever/pain and other symptoms of infection .This is least likely.
