White Spots And Mucus In The Stool. Suffer From Constipation And Stress. What Is The Reason?
Greetings; I ve been noticing white spots in my stools . I have GERDS, i ve had ulcers , i m a vegetarian and i ve had some form of constipation for most of my life. I don t know if any of this is relevant; my diet is pretty good, so i don t think it s food related. Occasionally, i will have mucus in the stool as well. The spots are a new thing. I have been stressed lately, who hasn t? Thank you.
Mucus you experienced in stool are due to constipation. When you strain, the mucosa of the rectum is lacerated from the solid feces, that's why you have mucus.
In addition, it might indicate infection of bowel, so I suggest to examine the stool for ova/parasites and culture for candida infection.
Spotting is also related to constipation, most probably due to hemorrhoids. You can do fecal blood occult to rule out other GI bleeding.
Another cause of constipation could be the drugs you might be using for GERD and ulcers.
So, to prevent constipation, I suggest to:
- drink more water - take sena supplements - lactulose to soften the stool - more physical activity - consult GI specialist/proctologist
All the best! Dr.Alba
