Why Am I Bleeding Every Second Week After A Contraceptive Implant?
hi. i'm on the contraceptive impland for about 8 weeks over 1 year. for the past 8 weeks i have been bleeding every second week, when previously i barely bled at all. my doctor suggested to go on estrogen only progynova and im very worried it is too many hormones
After a contraceptive implant most women show irregular periods. It is commonly due to changes in the hormones, once the body adjusts, the spotting and bleeding should go away. If not, your gynecologist may recommend removal of the implant. Abnormal bleeding can be due to polyp, cysts, infection (PCOS), fibroid, etc. You are suggested to get clinically examined by a gynecologist. Get USG, cervical and chlamydia screening tests and STD tests done.
You will be treated with hormonal therapy, antibiotics or antivirals depending on the pathology detected. Take home made balanced food rich in iron, calcium and protein. Stay well hydrated. Avoid stress & take adequate sleep.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
