Hello,
You have history of SLE and are experiencing extreme hot temperatures.
Excessive sweating, overheating, hot flashes, and extreme changes in body temperature are common symptoms of
lupus. However, other medical conditions can also cause similar symptoms like side effect of medications,
hormonal imbalance, it can also be a symptom of
menopause,
thyroid disorders, etc.
If SLE affects the autonomic nervous system, a part of the CNS, then the body temperature can be affected, as ANS helps in the regulation of body temperature. You are suggested to get clinically examined by a general physician or
rheumatologist for evaluation and monitoring of your disease.
Maintain good hygiene as people who sweat excessively are prone to skin infections, further increasing the risk of infection that people with lupus face, due to the condition’s effects on the immune system. Take regular baths and change clothes, prefer to wear soft cotton clothes over wearing synthetic materials and other fabrics. Take balanced home made nutritious food. Avoid direct exposure to sunlight.
Stay away from alcohol and caffeine, both of which can cause sweating and hot flashes and worsen these symptoms. Manage
stress and avoid triggers that exacerbate your symptoms or cause flare-ups. Stay hydrated by drinking cool water throughout the day. Stay away from addictions if any.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Nupur K., General & Family Physician
