Why Am I Having Recurrent Vaginal Bleeding While Taking Provera?
Hi, i am having my period for past 2 weeks. Not heavy flow actually but drops. I have taken provera 20mg but still having the bleeding. However my last menstrual date was 22nd of January and after a week of interval, i started having again on the 5th Of February which is still ongoing. Please do kindly advise
Provera is a hormone of the progesterone group of hormones in women. It is indicated for various menstrual abnormalities including irregular vaginal bleeding or spotting. However, Provera, sometimes may itself cause unusual vaginal bleeding, including spotting or breakthrough bleeding.
However, most of the times, this effect is self regulatory and bleeding or spotting subsides itself within sometime without any particular treatment. This irregularity may persist, sometimes for first few months. However, if there is heavy or prolonged bleeding, then you are advised to see your doctor and treatment done accordingly.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
