Why Am I Having Yellow Mucus From My Nose Along With Coughing And Sore Throat?

Hi I am 27 years old. I went to the doctors on Monday with a sore throat and they said I have a cold. I have been coughing for the past two days and had yellow mucus from my nose. I'm taking cough medicine and bricanyl for my cough but at the moment nothings worked I can't stop couching...

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have yellow mucus from my nose along with coughing and sore throat which are due to sinusitis and upper respiratory tract infection. I would suggest you to do warm saline gargles 2-3 times a day. You should take steam inhalation twice a day. Take cough expectorants. Consult ENT specialist for proper diagnosis. Doctor may prescribe antibiotics amoxiclav at least for 10 days along with decongestant. Maintain proper hygiene. Drink plenty of water and liquids. Take tepid sponging if it is severe headache.Doctor may order test like swab test , blood test , and viral culture test to rule out condition like acid reflux and strep throat. Maintain proper hygiene and drink plenty of fluids.
