I was 71/2 weeks pregnant and received an abortion I gained 7 lbs and 5 which I gained after my abortion. My abortion was 3 days ago. Im eating what id normally eat and maybe even a little less. Why am I gaining weight? Is it water? How do I get ride of it? Will I keep gaining?
Hi, Thanks for the query. Some amount of weight gain is common during pregnancy. But excessive weight gain immediately after abortion is somewhat abnormal. Excessive blood loss during abortion can lead to anemia and that can cause edema. Rarely septic abortion etc can affect renal function and can lead to weight gain. So, if you are not having problems like giddiness, weakness, decreased urine output etc, no need to worry. Possibly you will get your pre pregnancy weight soon. If you are having any of the above mentioned problems, once consult gynecologist and get examined. Go for investigations like hemoglobin level, renal parameters, ultrasound etc. Possibly with this workup the cause for your problem can be identified and treated. Take care.
