Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I was recently diagnosed with auto immune Atrphic Gastritis. I've been taking Synthroid for 4 years. My endo has to keep increasing my dosage as we can't get my TSH to the right levels. Curreently 6.33. I believe the Atrophic Gastritis is the issue and I'm not absorbing the medication. Am I right? What can we do?
Hi, i have gone through your question and understand your concerns .In atrophic gastritis gastric secretions become impaired and that decreases absorption of thyroxine. In such cases the dose thyroxine is usually needed to be increased.Hope this answers your question. If you have additional questions or follow up questions then please do not hesitate to ask. I will be happy to answer your questions.
Wishing you good health.
