Why Are My Hands And Legs Falling Asleep?

I am having problems with my hands/wrists falling asleep. My hands will actually cramp and my thumb goes up into my palm. It takes a few seconds for it to go away and I can open my hand back to normal. Also my legs will fall asleep even when I am standing on them. What causes this ?
