Why Are My Periods Missing Despite Taking Birth Control Pills?

I have irregular period since a teenager.Now i am 21 years old. I met a gynae and she only prescribed me with birth control pills. However, its been 4 months since I had any pills. I have been missing my period for 3 months already. Any idea whats wrong with me?
