Why Are Opioids Combined With Acetaminophen So Dangerous?
Hello: I am a college student and I am having trouble understanding why Opioids combined with Acetaminophen are so deadly. For example, both acetaminophen and Hydrocodone are metabolized in the liver. In an Acetaminophen/Hydrocodone overdose, wouldn t the acetaminophen overdose shut down the liver before the hydrocodone had a chance to produce central nervous system depression? Thank you Emily
Yes, it is possible to get drug induced liver toxicity.
Take Acetaminophen with Oxycodone.
But to improve moderate pain, both drug combination is more effective than individual.
Hope I have answered your query.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
