Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Why Are The Medicines Amlodipine Bestylate And Sertraline Prescribed?
I know somebody who is taking Anlodipine Besylate with Sertraline. This person told me that his doctor recommended for a certain health condition. In my curiosity, I looked up what Sertraline is and I learned that is Zoloft the depression drug. I will let you know that this person does not go to a psychiatrist or psychologist (if both are considered to be the same). However, I am a little concerned that this person is taking a depression medicine. Can you tell me if this combination of drug is used for medical conditions and if so, for what exactly is it for?
Amlodipine is a calcium channel blocker medicine used for hypertensionSertraline is an SSRI an antidepressant. I think the person is having depression. He might have hidden it. There is no need for giving sertraline for hypertension.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Muhammed Asif, General & Family Physician
