Why Are The Sugar Levels Raised Even After Being On Regular Diabetic Medication ?
dr i am 38 yrs(F) diabetic since 2008 and on medication metformin SR 500mg ,1tab after breakfast daily . now since 2 months my glucose has raised to 179 fasting and ppbs 256 . I have consulted sr.doc and he adv me for 1gm of metformin both morn and bed time for abt 8 days and later to 1.5 gm split in a day. i hav got my cholestrol, urea, creatine and everything is normal. but after 1 month of this medication my sugar levels r still at 144 fasting and 179 ppbs. so doc can u pls suggest any change in the medication.

Mam, I see similar cases in patients who visit my clinic. If i were your treating doctor, In such a condition I would wait for 1 more month and see with blood sugar monitoring. If still higher, I would suggest addition of small dose of drugs from sulphonylurea also for the present medication. You can discuss with your treating doctor.
