Why Could Be The Stools Be Green Taking Insulin For Diabetes?

My wife has many chronic issues, maybe not the least is diabetes, taking 14 (whatever the measurement) twice a day shots. She has been eating lots of green and purple grapes which seems to reduce her sugar most consistantly. She wanted to know why in the last few days her stool has been green. Anyone have a simple answer?

Hello
Thanks for writing to us with your health concern.
The answer lies in your question itself !
Green and purple grapes have the pigments which get excreted in the stools.
That is lending the characteristic colour to her stools.
Also, grapes are NOT the best bet for controlling blood sugars, but that is between her and her Dietician and Physician.
Also, if she is on iron tablets for any reason, that too can produce greenish stool.
Do not worry about this.
The test would be if she does not take the grapes for a few days.
If the stool colour gets modified, she will be assured that the reason was the grapes.
i strongly think that is the possibility.
All the best.
