Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Upon visiting his dentist for cleaning and check-up yesterday, my 30 yr old son was told (by an oral surgeon), that he suggested he let him do a biopsy based on something the doctor saw towards the back of his mouth. I don t think my son really knows what he may be looking at, but I told him to agree to the biopsy. My email address is YYYY@YYYY
I have gone through your query and can understand your concern..
As per your complain biopsy is generally suggested to look for the exact nature of lesions that can be examined at cell level to rule out for non cancerous as well as cancerous lumps and lesions.. If your son is advised a biopsy, it is your right as well as responsibility to consult the oral surgeon again and ask him in details about the reason for which he has advised him biopsy and then you can proceed with the same.. You can also send me the details by asking a direct question by visiting my profile so that I can have a detailed discussion about the cause for which biopsy is advised by the oral surgeon and also will advise you how you should proceed further for the further investigations and treatment..
Hope this information helps..
Thanks and regards. Dr.Honey Nandwani Arora.
