Why Did The Periods Stop After Having Nexplanon Implant?
Hi, I have had the nexplanon in since December 2011. My periods stopped completely as soon as I had the implant inserted. My question is, How will I know when the implant is no longer working? Should my periods simply return, or will I continue to have no menstrual cycle.
Nexplanon helps in reducing period cramps and pain but soon after insertion it may cause heavy periods, scanty periods, spotting or no bleeding at all. The symptoms vary from patient to patient. After Nexplanon implant the periods are quite light, and one-third of the users stop getting the period after one year. Nexplanon commonly helps to prevent pregnancy for up to 5 years. You should get it removed after that as it will stop working.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Nupur K., General & Family Physician
