Hi,I am Dr. Gopal Goel (Orthopaedic Surgeon). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Below my calf but above my ankle, it feels like there is a one inch gap where there should be a tendon or muscle. I have played highly competitive soccer my whole life and have broken this ankle before. Do you know what this injury could be? It s been this way for years.
What I understand is this should be a ligament injury and over a period of time, there is very less amount of fat tissue left out due to regular strain and stress over the tendons and muscle.
This is actually normal in most cases having ankle injury due to sports.
If there is a pain, then using an ankle brace along with hot water fermentation should help reduce one.
And coming to your query - is this a muscle or tendon? the answer is it is Tendon passion through the joint which is thin and strong in nature to control the joint stability for performing movements without losing the stability.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
