Why Do I Feel So Lethargic?

I am a 41 year old woman and have recently become extremely lethargic and tired....I could easily sleep most of the day. I put on 10kg over a short period of time last year but at the time was quite stressed...this may have been the cause. Any ideas what could me to be so tired?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,
You have already mentioned one of the commonest reasons :: the stress itself can all the problems. Stress alters hormone levels and needs particularly in female patients.

You have to undergo a proper clinical examination to be done by a Doctor who can catch many of the problems on your proper history and physical examination and can then guide for further investigations and treatment.

I would advise you to undergo the blood tests including the ones for blood sugar, thyroid function tests , kidney and liver function tests.

The probable causes can be diabetes, hypothyroidism, anemia, or general diseases like tuberculosis and so on.

A proper history, clinical examination, investigations as per these findings alone can lead to a proper diagnosis . This is most important to lead to a proper management/ treatment.
