Why Do I Get Itching And Burning After Cutting Agapanthus?
Hi doc, Each time I cut my dads agapanthus I always get a burning feeling on my arms from the sap. I wash down my arms once I ve finished the job and after a day or two the burning and itching goes away. This time the itch n has lasted over a week and still get a slight burning when I shower. what do I do or use?
Hello! In the way you describe it seems to be a allergic reaction to agapanthus. It is better that in future try to avoid the contact with this flower.
If you are still having this symptoms you can use an antihistamic drug such as Cetirizine 5-10 mg once a day for some days(until the allergic symptoms are gone). If your symptoms don't go away even with this treatment I suggest to consult a physician for further diagnosis and treatment.
Hope it helped. Take care. Dr.Rovena
