Hi doctor i have a fungal onfection some patch near the groin i am 5weeks pregnant, my ob prescribed me a travocort cream but i read the leaflets that ot is unsafe for pregnancy 1 to 3 months, coz it will have a sode effect for the unborn, so i im thinking if im goong to continue to use it. If you can answer dr,thank you
In pregnancy, fungal infection may occur due to increased estrogen in the body. You should not take anti-fungal medications orally as it is unsafe in pregnancy. You are suggested to take care of your hygiene. Change your clothes every day, take bath regularly. Wear soft cotton clothes that are loose fitting. You are suggested to get clinically examined by a gynecologist.
Your gynecologist will prescribe you a topical cream/ ointment containing clotrimazole, miconazole, that can be applied on the area affected. Take adequate amount of water and fluids. Take homemade food rich in minerals and fluids.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
