Why Do I Have Congestion Of Nose After Undergoing Septoplasty?

Hello, My Name is Tarek, 31 year old male from Dhaka. in 2004 I had surgery on my nose (Septoplasty and ESS). for the last 1 year or so, i feel some obstacle on the right nose, not all the time but @ the end of night. Consulted with doctors, they gave me Generic:Flexofenodin HCL and Spray Genric:Fluticasone Propinate BP and an antibiotique. Now for some times it was gone (continued for 7 days the tablets but continued spray). Now for the last 3/4 days again in the late night/early morning, I feel discomfort. I wake up and cannot not sleep for mental pressure. What is the remedy? Its not like totally blocked nose but discomfort of right nose blocked. For the last one and half year I do not get a runny nose or common cold. from the doctor s report it says Enlarged tonsils, congested anterior pillars. My weight is 96 kg and height 160 c.m . please help

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

Noted the history about your Septoplasty and ESS surgery in 2004, feeling some blockage on right side of nose particularly at the late of night, uncomfortable, prescribed with Fexofenadine, Fluticasone nasal spray and some antibiotic, but not much useful.
The commonest causes I can think about right nostril block in spite of surgery are as follows:
Hypertrophied turbinates is a condition in which the lower nasal masses enlarge more than normal.
Deviation of the nasal septum again.
Nasal polypi.
Vasomotor rhinitis is a condition that congestion rises with increases stress and anxiety.
Hence I would advise you the following:
Consult an ENT Surgeon again.
Request for nasal endoscopy and CT scan of nose and sinuses.
Relevant tests of blood like IgE for allergy.
All these will give us the most appropriate diagnosis so that a specific treatment in the form of medicines, to relax mind, to cauterize or re-surgery can be done to give you permanent relief.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. T. Chandrakant, ENT and General Surgeon
