Why Do I Have Foul Smelling Mucus With Stool After Perforated Gangrenous Appendix Removal?

Hi I had a perforated gangrenous appendix removed 2 weeks today. Today is the first time I have got up and dressed and actually just been for a 5 min walk.
I'm still having bowel problems. While my poo is returning to normal I am not able to control it and just have to go. When I do go I have a creamy milky white awful smelling mucus with the poo. What is this?

Hello and welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.

I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

History of appendix operation and the present abdomen symptoms may not be related but what the symptoms that you have could be due to infection and most probably it could be protozoa infection and in my opinion it can be well managed with Tab Metronidazole and it need to be taken for five to seven days.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Akhtarhusain Shaikh
