Why Do I Have Hot Flashes And Chills ?

Hello , im 17 and ive been sick for about 3 days now, sore throat , body aches , strong headaches. last night i had a strong case of hot flash when i woke up then went back to sleep and woke up again this time with the chills, i went to sleep again and this morning woke up very weak. my temperature is 98, No Fever . My mother believes im sick because of my menstrual Cycle , i have Poly- cystic Ovarian Syndrome i only get my period once a year and the doctors want to put me on insulin but i choose not to. can someone please help me figure out exactly whats going on?
