Why Do I Have Severe Pain My Ear And Feel Some Soreness?

4 weeks ago I awoke with chronic pain in my neck, behind the right ear, just above the right shoulder on the front, on my right shoulder in the back. During the day the pain progresively got worse and could also be felt down the right side of my breast, and occassionally in the centre of my chest.. I have had an ultra sound on the thyroids, which showed no problem. My doctor said it was muscular, which I disputed. As a last resort I have been taking Amoxil for 4 days. The pain has eased, but I am more aware of localised pain now behind my right ear. I have a cochlear implant, and behind the ear feels sore. The doctor has checked inside the ear and can see no sign of infection. Although I did have signs of an infection 5 weeks ago before all this started. I took Amoxil then and that cleared up.

Hello

Welcome in H.C.M.

I have gone through your query

As you said you symptoms and observation of your doctor along with effect of antibiotic on your pain in neck and chest it appears as you are having respiratory tract infection with referred otalgia.

Because your entire area of pain can't be explained by ear infection as ear infections of ear will give rise to pain n the surrounding of ear and in severe cases may cause headache but it never extend to your chest.

This is the throat of your respiratory tract which may give rise to ear pain through eustachian tube and similarly in chest and lower neck by involving lung and pleura.

I am suggesting you to consult your physician for the same.

Regards.
