Why Do I Have Tickling Cough After Having Beer?

Every Wednesday evening I drink 3 - 4 pints of mild beer at a local club. Its the only time I drink beer, I drink one or 2 whiskys at home most other nights. The nights I drink beer I am kept awake with a tickling cough, doesnt happen with whisky. Any thoughs?.
