Why Do I Recently Have A Pain Down The Left Side Of My Back?

Hi...I am an active 76 year old (as opposed to sedentary) and recently I have a pain down the left side of my back. It is mostly evident when I lie in bed at night. It seems to be muscular but as such I thought it would have gone away by now. It s been about 2 weeks. Any suggestions?

Hello,

You are experiencing pain on the left side of your back. It can be indicative of muscle strain, pulled muscle, ankylosing spondylosis, arthritis, degenerative disc disease, sciatica, neuropathy, etc. You are suggested to switching sleeping positions or get a mattress that suits your needs better.

Heating pads and massage therapy may help, get connected to a physical therapist, exercises and weight loss if obese may be helpful. Get clinically examined by a GP, get required blood tests, X-ray, imaging tests done. You will be treated accordingly. In the meantime, you can take pain relieving medicines like acetaminophen or Combiflam, one SOS when required.

You can also include anti inflammatory food in your regular diet so that pain gets reduced naturally. You can take NervUp OD, once daily for 10 days to strengthen the functioning of your nerves. Stay away from addictions if any.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
