Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Is it possible for a MD to perform a petallar reflex wrong? Two of my doctors did a knee reflex and noticed hyper-reflex with clonus, but the neurologist said that the reflex was performed incorrectly because it was percussed more on the side below the knee cap would that make a difference?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice. This test is associated with some uncertainty. If there are no other signs of central nervous system disease, I would not be worried. Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
