Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
hi there for the last few weeks everything I eat tastes to salty. everyone says food is fine but I cant eat it. also everything I eat does funny to me. even food I love taste alittle off. can you help? Im a 64 year old female. on blood pressure, antideprasent and I have a fib.
It is suggestive of drug induced taste disturbance. BP lowering medications like captopril / lisinopril, anti-depressants, anti-arrhythmics (such as for atrial fibrillation) can cause altered taste sensation like feeling salty for everything you eat. This altered sensation can be prevented by brushing your tongue each time you brush your teeth, or rinse your mouth with a mild salt solution (a teaspoon of salt in 8 ounces of water). A good oral hygiene can also be useful.
Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Mohammed Taher Ali, General & Family Physician
