Hi,I am Dr. Prabhakar Koregol (Cardiologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Why Does My Blood Pressure Increase By Evening While On Irbesartan?
I became aware that my blood pressure was elevated (190/90) and after watching it for several days my family doctor put me on Irbessartan, 150mg tablets. It has been 5 weeks now and while my morning readings are in the 120 or lower range, at night my numbers go up, sometimes as much as 15 to 20 points. Why?
Based on your description, it seems that your current therapy is not effective in controlling blood pressure values. For this reason, I recommend adding amlodipine 10mg at lunch or in the evening to help control your blood pressure values better. It is also necessary checking thyroid hormone levels for possible thyroid gland dysfunction.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Ilir Sharka, Cardiologist
