Hi,

Thank you for your query. I can understand your concerns.

you are having somewhat like Isolated systolic hypertension in which systolic blood pressure (SBP) remains higher than 160 mm hg but diastolic blood pressure(DBP) remain close to 90 mm hg.You will need calcium channel blocker (CCB) like amlodipine 5-10 mg orally along with ACEI (angiotensin-converting-enzyme inhibitor) like ramipril 2.5 -5 mg orally daily instead of beta-blocker like propranolol which is no longer considered the initial drug of choice to control BP.
You should also follow dietary sodium restriction.Dietary sodium intake should be less than 6 gram salt/day or less than 2-4 gram sodium/day.
No added salt/table-salt usually advocated.
1 teaspoon of table salt = 5.69 grams (g) table salt mass equivalent to 2.325 gram Sodium.
Consume diet rich in fruits, vegetables ,low fat dairy products (low saturated & total fat)
Maintain Ideal BMI ( body mass index= Body weight in kg divided by height in meter square) less than 23 kg/m2 -by weight reduction.
Aerobic physical exercise for 20-30 minutes at least 5 days per week is generally recommended.
Alcohol moderation also helps if it is a issue with you.
