I would like to know what is causing my feet and ankles to swell, and yes I drink beer daily and have arthritis really bad in the back, shoulders, and legs. Lately it has been really bad, the feet swell so tight that I can hardly move my ankles. Would you please help me with the dianosis.

Hi welcome to HCM. There may be several reasons for swelling of feet and ankles. You have not mentioned whether the swelling pits on pressure and whether it is tender. For a start you should check your blood uric acid levels and TSH and liver function tests and creatinine levels. Cardiac evaluation is also very important. It is advisable that you visit a doctor as early as possible for a clinical evaluation with investigations.
Since you have been consuming alcohol regularly so chronic liver disease needs to be evaluated
Second since you arthritis and must be consuming painkillers ---nephropathy secondary to NSAIDS/ Auto-immune disease needs to be looked into also
Hello.Welcome to HCM forum.Most common causes of swelling in both feet are cirrhosis,nephrotic syndrome,anemia,hypoproteinemia,heart failure etc.Consult a physician and get your liver function tests.kidney function tests,CBC,ultrasound abdomen,echo cardiography and urine routine done.Don't be callous in consulting your doctor as delay can play havoc with your life.Thanks and good luck.

There can be many causative factors for oedema on feet such as CCF etc . Try to see a doctor for evaluation. You have not mentioned your age & other disorders you are suffering from?

There can be many reasons for ankle oedema such as CCF. You have not mentioned your age & any other disorder you are suffering from such as HYPTN etc. Apart from this constant use of NSAID's causes swelling in the feet. You need to see a doctor for further evaluation.
