Why Does Swelling In Head Persist After Hitting Years Back?

I hit the left side of the back my head while doing construction about 3 yrs ago. It swelled, I put an ice pack on it and it went down alot and I assumed I would eventually go back to normal. But about a year ago i noticed it was still there. It doesnt hurt at all, I dont get headaches, my vision is fine, I recently had a physical and everything is normal. I have a very low haircut and can tell that the knot is on my scalp about the size of a large mosquito bite. Is this something I should worry about? Im 29 years old, 5'10", 190lbs, No medical problems.

Hi there,
I am Dr. Deepak, I work in Emergency Department, where I see many of my patient who have head injury. As you have mentioned you had head injury 3 yrs back, which swelled up and reduced a lot in size. You have noticed that the swelling is still persisting after 2 yrs. Now you are not having trouble like headaches, vision problem and your physical was normal.
I understand your concern regarding the knot. As its persisting for longer duration.
The thing is, if the knot is persisting for such a long period then most likely its because of fibrosis formation of the clot or foreign body. It is a good thing that your not having problem related to it. Like redness and pain, which are signs of infection. So, there is nothing to worry about.
Any point of time in future if you develop and problem related to it you can visit Plastic Surgeon and he can help you out regarding the treatment.
