Why Does The Ultrasound Scan Not Have Cardiac Pulsation?

Hi Doctor,
I took the ultra sound scan. and the result was like
Gestational Sac: Present
GSMD:18 mm:6.1
FEOTAL POLE : NOT SEEN
CARDIAC PULSATION: NOT SEEN
DECIDUAL REACTION :GOOD
OVARIES&ADNEXA:NORMAL
OS:CLOSED
CERVICAL LENGTH:3.1 CM

may i know what is the result says? I am very much tensed because the cardiac pulsation is not seen in the result. Can u give me the reply as fast.

Hi,
Thanks for the query.
Sometimes ultrasound may not detect the fetal pole and heart beat in early pregnancy.
So, better to repeat the ultrasound after 2 weeks.
Possibly by that time gestational sac and heart beat can be seen.
If heart beat is not able to made out even after 2 weeks, there is possibility of blighted ovum.
Means gestational sac will develop without fetal pole.
This can happen due to chromosomal abnormalities sometimes.
This may not repeat in next pregnancy.
But better to be careful from the beginning in next pregnancy.
Start folic acid prophylaxis two to three months before planning for pregnancy.
