Why Doesn't Erection Last For A Long Duration During Intercourse?

Hello doctor,
I am newly married guy. I am facing hardness problem with my penis. It gets erect during foreplay but doesn't keep the erection for longer duration for copulation. Also it doesn't get as hard as needed on will. I used to masterbate almost daily and afraid it could be because of that. is this a physcological problem or it can be a problem of ED? also please suggest whom to consult if required?

Hi Thank you for using Health care magic.
The description you had given itself describes that you do not have ED , as there is erection during foreplay.
What you are facing is a symptom of performance anxiety -psychological issue which many of newly married man also have. Many time these isolated loss of erection during copulation aggravate the anxiety about performance and that further reducing erection.
Anxiety about performance can greatly reduce when one spent proper time for fore play which can be around 10 to 20 min- Not a fix time duration though. Proper amount of lubrication is needed in your partner's vagina which will help in getting better erection during actual intercourse. Enjoying intimacy will reduce the anxiety. Confidence is an important factor here and knowing you do not have ED you should think about giving pleasure and getting pleasure rather than thinking about how did you perform. This measure will reduce the occurrence of loosing erection.
Still you find difficulties in overcoming this situation consult a psychiatrist .
Hope you find this .
Regards.
