Why Has The Stitch On The Breast Post Reduction & Uplift Surgery Not Dissolved And How Can I Get Rid Of It ?
I am age 58 in good health apart from osteo arthritis in my thumb joints . On 18th January this year I had breast reduction & uplift surgery on my left breast (to make my breasts more symmetric after a Lumpectomy for breast cancer on my right breast 2 years ago). Although it has healed well there is a dissolvable stitch protruding from the scar which is not showing any sign of dissolving and is causing a small open area which does weep a occasionally . It is directly under my breast in the T-junction. Should it have dissolved by now and if it doesn t what will need to be done to get rid of it?
Hello and welcome to healthcare forum.
Whatever you mentioned, sometimes happen with suture material and may further lead to sinus formation so stitch granuloma formation.
Now for you it is better to visit your operating surgeon and ask him for removal of that stitch to prevent further complications.
Best wishes for you health.
