I am desperate. For just the past few days I have had the most terrible feeling of tightness and pressure in my mid-larynx, and it looks to me as if my voicebox is swollen or more prominent than usual. . It definitely feels as if there is a lump that wasn t there before, but the urgent care Doctor said it was just my Adam s apple. Could laryngitis cause such an obvious enlargement of the Adam s apple (voicebox). She prescribed prednisone and albuterol, though I really don t have any trouble breathing, related to this. I do have a throat-clearing sort of cough, and a tickle in my windpipe. But the tightening sensation is what s killing me, and I haven t been able to sleep with it, because it is just as bad if not more painful when lying down. How soon before this improves, do you think? The doctor chalked it up to either laryngytis, globus syndrome, or bronchospasm (but as I said, I really haven t had any significant problem in breathing --- though I have been sneezing every day due to ongong allergies. This is most troubling, so I thank you for any tips. ---Franco
