As per your clinical description it seems that you might have the following probabilities-
1. The smooth elevation is your curved and lateralized nasal septal
cartilage.
Very few percentage of population in the world has a straight midline
nasal septum. Thus it is a very common pathology to have Deviated Nasal Septum(DNS), and often with a bulging nasal septal cartilage towards any of the nostrils.
2. It may be a nasal spur, which feels smooth under the covering of the nasal mucosa.
3. Or it may be a
furuncle inside the nostril.
If you have any clinical symptoms for it, like pain, stuffy nose( as in your case), difficulty in breathing,snoring or
chronic rhinitis then you need to consult an
ENT specialist for the treatment.
Hence I would suggest you not to worry at all, just do a XRay PNS and vist your Doctor for further evaluation and management.
