Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I take 1mg of Clonazepam every morning. My urine test every 6 months always shows it in my system. This last test didn t show it, even though I took it. My Dr. has stopped it cold turkey. I am in stage 1 Kidney failure, could this have any effect on the test? I also take 2 tbls of organic apple cider vinegar every morning, could this effect the test. What possible side effects could I have stopping cold turkey? Please I need an answer. Thank you.
There are several reasons why Clonazepam may not be detected in a urine test, including issues with the test itself, differences in metabolism or excretion of the drug, or dilution of the urine sample. In the case of kidney failure, it is possible that there may be alterations in drug metabolism or excretion that could affect the detection of Clonazepam in the urine.
Stopping Clonazepam abruptly can lead to withdrawal symptoms such as anxiety, insomnia, seizures, and other serious health complications. It is important to consult with your doctor before stopping any medication, especially if you have been taking it regularly for an extended period of time. If you have concerns about the results of your urine test or the sudden discontinuation of your medication, you should discuss these issues with your healthcare provider to determine the best course of action for your individual situation.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Albana Sejdini, General & Family Physician
