Was just looking up effexor my so called m.d. gave me a rx. For it she told me it was for pain which I knew better it is a psychotrophic medication....not for pain I told her that it is not for pain and handed it back to her to make a new rx. For me because she had put it on the same rx. for One of the routine meds I have been taking and she would not. I did not and will not get it filled I tyold my pharmacy to not fill it that the m.d. lied to me and told me it was for pain. I do not need effexor for the medical problems I have. I do not have depression I have been through 6 domestic violences I have P.T.S.D. nightmares etc. I was a nurse.
you are absolutely correct, effexor (venlafaxine) is an antidepressant drug and is not pain medication. However, it could have stabilising effects on your ptsd condition and mood and through that have a positive influence on potential ptbs-related psychosomatic pain conditions also. So your doctor meant well for you, unfortunately she apparently didt't explain her intentions good enough to you. Hope this is helping you , if you have any clarificatons you can get back to me, if this was helpful please kindly rate my answer. Best regards
