Why Is Potassium Fluoride Prescribed Before Catheterization?
My Grandmother has had a catherization done today and the Dr. wanted her to have Potassium fluoride before having this done. Her potassium was low going into the hospital, but it had came back up(the level of it I am not sure of) I was just wondering why she couldn t be on normal saline going into this thing?
Low potassium might cause deleterious complications like cardiac arrhythmia during the procedure. To prevent these sort of complications potassium supplements are given.
