Why Is Regestrone Prescribed For Vaginal Spotting?
I m 28 yrs old and recently did PAP test for 1st time in US. I ve been diagnosed by High risk HPV and doctor asked me to do PAP test after 3 months. I came back to my home country India, I ve been having bleeding (Spotting) from last 3 weeks. So I went to India Gyno and she gave me Sandoz regestrone medicine for 20 days (2 tablets a day) and then asked me to come back on 7 day for PAP and Sonography. Could you please guide me why she suggested Regestrone and what s the side effects. In addition can this spotting would be symptoms of cervical cancer. Please note that I m sexually active from age of 22 yrs.

Hello,
Regestrone is a pill containing female hormone in it. If you stop medication after 2 days, it mimics normal cycle hormone change, results in withdrawal bleeding. You will get your periods with normal flow. For any lesion to turn to cancer cell need time, it might take years to turn cancer, As you have HPV infection need to get regularly evaluated to detected cancer early. Detection of cancer in early stages helps to cure cancer completely.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
