Why Is Abortion Delayed After Being Operated For Brainstem Glioma?
Hi my sister was diagnose with a brainstem glioma 3weeks ago but she was informed 2 days ago that she was pregnant. When she wa admited a pregnacy was given and they say she wasnt pregnant. Shes had surgery 3 days after she was admited for the vp shunt and is on her second week of raditon treatment. What are the risk? and why are they telling her to wait 4 more weeks to get the abortion?
I'm a little confused. You say in your statement that she WASN'T PREGNANT and then, your question is "why are they telling her to wait 4 more weeks to get the abortion?" Therefore, is she or isn't she pregnant? The likely reason they want her to wait is because if she just had radiation therapy to the brain and surgery for whatever the cause....we usually like to wait 4-6 or even 8 weeks for the brain to totally heal before jumping right back in to another procedure which will require more anesthesia and increased risks for complications if a procedure were just recently done.
